Director | Author | Survivor-Advocate | Expert in Healing & Long-Term Recovery from Domestic Violence
I am a proud survivor, storyteller, and advocate, committed to supporting others in transforming trauma into strength. As Director of Broken to Brilliant, I lead with lived experience, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of recovery, community, and purpose.
🔍 What I Do
- Serve as Director of Broken to Brilliant, a not-for-profit Australian charity founded by survivors, to mentor people who have safely left domestic violence situations in rebuilding their lives. (brokentobrilliant)
- Work with Women’s Health & Equality Queensland and as Facilitator of The Healing Journey with Strong Women Talking, supporting those affected by domestic and sexual violence, advocating for change, safety, and healing. (Common Grace)
- Speak publicly and write, sharing authentic stories and insights to raise awareness of coercive control, domestic violence, and the long-term journey beyond crisis. I strive to bring hope, practical tools, and literary frameworks that help others see their worth and possibilities. (Common Grace)
🌱 My Perspective & Values
- Lived experience as strength: Having walked the difficult path myself, I believe recovery isn’t about “getting over” what happened, but reclaiming one’s life, identity, and agency. (Common Grace)
- Long-term healing matters: There’s often a gap in supports after immediate crisis. I’m passionate about building programs that go beyond safety—to restoration, self-confidence, financial independence, emotional resilience. (brokentobrilliant)
- Peer-led mentorship & storytelling: Survivors help survivors. Sharing stories isn’t just catharsis—it’s transformation for both speaker and listener. I believe narrative, community, art, equine and creative therapies are essential tools. (brokentobrilliant)
- Hope, dignity, choice: My work is grounded in giving people agency—choice in how to rebuild their lives, dignity in their journey, and hope that their future can be bright. (brokentobrilliant)
🔧 Key Achievements
- Helped scale Broken to Brilliant’s recovery-and-rebuilding programs: art & equine therapy, financial literacy (Financial Superwomen), legal literacy, mentoring, “Steps to Rebuild Your Life” courses, and more. (brokentobrilliant)
- Contributed as author to the Broken to Brilliant books and the award-winning publications that share real stories of recovery and success beyond abuse. (brokentobrilliant)
- Advocate in public forums and inter-sector collaborations to influence policy, increase visibility of coercive control, and shift how communities respond to survivors. (Common Grace)
